MEASURE GEAR STORY
My name is Mark Pompeo, the inventor and founder of Measure Gear. I grew up in a large family south of Boston Massachusetts. My father was a general contractor and taught me how to build anything. This foundation of construction knowledge and working with my hands would eventually lead me to brainstorm the Measure Gear concept.
Professionally I was a successful stockbroker for over 25 years. After sustaining injuries in an automobile accident in 2015, and not being able to return to my career of choice, I worked for the family business until I could get back on my feet. It was during this extremely challenging time that I came up with this problem-solving solution.
I was working on a large construction site and saw hundreds of workers carrying a small 12’ tape measure for work. Every worker would put their tape down, drop it or just not have it handy right when they needed it. I went home that night and figured out that if you wore it on your wrist, you’d never have to put it down and it would always be ready for use.
I patented and trademarked Measure Gear and started building prototypes by hand to have try it out. The feedback was conclusive that I had something people wanted! I used my Wall Street background to raise enough capital to bring it to market. It has now been launched as a new product online and soon to appear in retailers nationwide.
